EMA’s vision is to lead an ecosystem of support, advice and training for New Zealand businesses and their people so both can succeed and thrive. With over 8,000 member businesses, covering around 40% of the NZ workforce, the Employers and Manufacturers Association is one of New Zealand’s largest business associations.

EMA recognised that to provide a wide range of up-to-date, relevant and quality learning solutions for their members, they would need to work with trusted external partners, which led to this collaboration with Skillpod. Skillpod’s vision is to transform the way businesses and individuals approach learning, empowering them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Through a commitment to their core values, they aspire to weave together the fabric of business and people, propelling them towards success. Skillpod and EMA identified synergies in their visions and are jointly committed to preparing employers and employees for the future.

EMA became an agent for Skillpod microlearning in 2020 and the number of courses offered and uptake of these has steadily grown. Together they collaborate to identify the right micro-modules for current demand and tailor the modules to meet the market need. Skillpod’s microlearning library offers EMA many of their ‘ready to go’ learning and development experiences in a format of convenient and engaging, bite-sized modules which only take 15-30 mins to complete.

To boost engagement and fit the learning to the EMA internal brand Skillpod have tailored the modules with text, images and video that reflect the Employers and Manufacturers Association and their people.

EMA were looking for online learning experiences to address identified areas of need and found the ‘ready to go’ Skillpod micro-modules provided an accessible, relevant, and high quality solution. Skillpod’s continual focus on the future needs of the workforce has informed their service and product development. They know that creative and analytical thinking, flexibility, self-awareness and curiosity are considered core skills to meet the demands of the changing workforce landscape.

The focus for EMA on industry needs and the recent World Economic Forum Future of Jobs Report has resulted in a collaborative project to create learning packages to develop the desired human-centric skills of a future ready workforce. This includes packages to develop thought diversity and critical, analytical, and creative thinking.

Skillpod and EMA aim to continue to align to provide high quality and accessible learning opportunities for the professional development of these and other vital skills for their association members.
