Skills to Work Programme

The New Zealand Rugby Players’ Association (NZRPA) is an independent representative body that supports professional male and female rugby players to engage in collective bargaining with New Zealand Rugby, Super Rugby clubs and Provincial Unions. NZRPA also works to encourage, educate and challenge players’ personal and professional development both on and off the field to help them thrive in all aspects of their life.

The ‘skills to work programme’ plays an important role in players’ personal and professional development as they consider leaving rugby and looking for employment outside of the profession.

With a limited budget to create a learning environment and an urgent need for engaging and relevant modules to support their people, NZRPA approached Skillpod for a solution.

After browsing the Skillpod Library and previewing the module, NZRPA selected ten modules from the library, ranging from communication in the workplace, to mentoring and interviewer and interviewee skills. NZRPA chose to have the modules customised with NZRPA imagery and branding, along with some content changes to show that skills from the game of rugby were transferable into the workplace. 

Leveraging templated files, Skillpod were able to quickly customise and iterate the modules based on feedback from NZRPA, and have these available for their LMS within a few weeks.
